The Matter of Hair: Start With a Pea Sized Amount

BY CHRYOSIS

If this is your first wash day with Chryosis, start with a pea sized amount.

It sounds small, especially if you are used to curl routines where a generous scoop of cream is only the beginning. For years, curly hair has often been shown with more product, more layers, and more steps. So when someone tries Chryosis for the first time, one of the most common mistakes is simply using more than their hair needs.

We would rather reverse that habit. Start small, see what your hair does, and let the amount grow only if your hair actually asks for more.

Your First Wash Day Is a Starting Point

Take a pea sized amount and spread it well between your palms before applying it to wet or damp hair. Work it through your curls and make sure you are distributing what is already in your hands before reaching back into the jar.

For shorter or lower density hair, that may be enough. Longer, thicker, or denser hair may need another small amount. If you do need more, add it gradually. Another pea sized amount is very different from starting with a large scoop and realizing afterward that the hair feels heavy.

There is no need to get the amount perfectly right on wash day one. Your first wash day is simply where you begin learning how Chryosis works with your hair.

We Have Been Taught to Use More

A lot of curly hair routines were built around layering. Leave in, cream, mousse, gel, oil. Even within one step, we often see large amounts of product worked through every section.

That can make using less feel almost wrong.

But more product does not automatically mean more softness, more definition, or better curls. Sometimes it simply means more product sitting on the hair.

With Chryosis, we want you to see what happens when you begin at the other end. Instead of asking, “How much can I put in?” start by asking, “How little does my hair actually need to get the result I want?”

The answer may surprise you.

Let Your Hair Teach You Over Time

Every head of hair is different. Two people can have a similar curl pattern and still need completely different amounts of product. Length, density, how wet the hair is, how you apply it, and the finished look you prefer can all change what works best.

That is why we do not want to give everyone one rigid measurement and pretend it will be perfect.

Start with the pea sized amount. Notice the result. On your next wash day, adjust if you need to. Maybe you need slightly more. Maybe you realize you needed even less. After a few wash days, you will begin to recognize what your own hair prefers.

That process is part of learning the formula.

There Is More Than One Way to Use It

You also do not need to style your hair the same way every time.

On a quick morning, spread a small amount between your hands, rake it through your hair, scrunch, and go. We hear from people who use Chryosis this way because they simply want their curls to look good without turning getting ready into a long process.

When you have more time, you can work in smaller sections, use a styling brush, smooth the product through your curls, or finger coil a few pieces where you want more definition.

The amount and the technique can both change with the day.

What matters is that the product fits into your life, not that you follow one perfect routine every time you open the jar.

Start Small and Learn From There

We know the first instinct may be to use more. That is what many of us have been taught to do with curly hair products.

Chryosis asks you to try something different.

Start with a pea sized amount. Work with what is already there. Add a little more only when you need it. Then give yourself a few wash days to figure out what works best for your own hair.

There is no perfect amount for every person. There is only the amount your hair actually needs.
